Developed by Limelight Software, Aurora is a musical sequencing program for your iPad (also available for iPhone and iPod Touch).  It doesn’t have recording capabilities but could be considered a complete production suite as it does give you the necessary tools to compose a full musical arrangement.

The stock sounds and presets are good but clearly geared toward the modern electronic and industrial producer.  I wouldn’t see much use for this app in most of my Hip Hop productions but it still has some clear functionality to it.

The software is very intuitive and its smooth, progressive workflow makes it useful in live situations as well.  Its multi-touch interface allows for quick sequencing and is also visually appealing.  It’s cool you can export MIDI files of your arrangements too.

I would like to see some higher quality preset sounds, but you do have the ability to manipulate a few effects parameters.  It’s also somewhat expensive in the wonderful world of apps.  Despite this, I would definitely find Aurora useful as an electronic producer or DJ and most of all it’s pretty fun to use.
