Retro Sound Studio for iPad
Unless you’re younger than a quarter century, you at some point in your childhood, owned or played one of the very first video gaming consoles that came out in the 80’s and early 90’s (think ATARI and Nintendo). Do you remember the weird, quirky sounds used in the videos games at that time?
Introducing Retro Sound Studio for the iPad – a FREE sound engine that mimics and replicates those iconic gaming sounds of the past. But here’s the kicker, even though these are popular sounds of an older era they still used and infused in the music of today. A perfect example would be Dubstep music. Go to Youtube and search for Dubstep arcade or Nintendo remixes and you will find some really interesting stuff.

This app has the capability to produce those classic arcade sounds and although I don’t see using it that often, it still has a niche sound that may prove golden at times. If anything it might just bring back memories of those good old days when you were eight and had nothing to worry about except which video game you were going to play and what your favorite brand of cereal was.
Did I mention this app was free?
Retro Sound Studio isn’t a performance tool, but more of a sample generator for gaming producers. You can create sounds/FX, save them, and access them via iTunes.
If you’re into producing electronic music and want a creative way to reflect on the past then check this app out. It will take you for a stroll down memory lane.
